We need community service volunteers, interns, and all kinds of folks.

Reach out to us to be a:

  • Community Liaison Advocate – at places like Big Bend Mental Health Coalition, Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), the Florida Legislature,  NAMI “Smarts”,  and NAMI on Campus.
  • Education Community Liaison – You can be an Actor, role-playing for scenario segments of CIT training for Law Enforcement; pickup and deliver snacks or lunch for trainees; deliver affiliate brochures to requesting provider organizations; assist in NAMI’s “Sharing Hope” initiative, designed specifically for African-American communities; serve as a presenter or tabling volunteer; teach NAMI-Tallahassee classes (graduates of NAMI education courses get free training to teach our classes).
  • Fundraiser Assistant – Our primary fundraiser is the Bluebird Run for Brookie B. It is a 5K/1M Walk-Run to promote suicide prevention/postvention and is held annually on Labor Day. You can speak to businesses about Business “share of profits”; write Grants for us; or help with garage sales, award dinners, galas, auctions, and other events.
  • Membership Helper – Keep membership lists current, coordinate renewals, assist in electronic communication, help coordinate and attend Membership meetings (helpful if knowledgeable in Excel and Gmail).
  • Publicity, Media, and Communications guru’s – Are you a writer? Assist with NAMI-Tallahassee electronic newsletter (Mailchimp), Photographer? take pictures of events and people for us. Webmaster? Assist with our website (WordPress).
  • “Help Line” manager (once a month) – We have experienced volunteers to train you and a list of resources.
  • Financial record keeper – We have state and federal documents to file; memberships to manage; and the day-to-day financial statements.  We cherish people who are comfortable with accounting software.
